Wendell Whicker returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents Sam and Ester Rowlett Whicker, and son in laws; Eric Maraman and Ray Walls, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Nettie Allen Whicker, three loving children; two sons Sam and his wife Kris Whicker, Scott and his wife Melissa Whicker and loving daughter Lynn and her husband Ray(deceased) Walls. He also leaves his 6 grandchildren behind to cherish his memory; Erica Maraman, Wyatt, Zack Whicker, Katelynn and her husband Cody McDaniels, Kariann and Kaden Whicker, Ray Walls III and his wife Kristina and Tonya Whithouse and her husband Janson.
Wendell was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned a teaching degree. Wendell taught school for one and half years out of a one room school house. Wendell also served 42 years as an elementary principal in Meade and Bullitt County. A long time member of the First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville and served as a Deacon. He was a chartered member Honorable Lion's Club of Zoneton. His passions in life were hunting, fishing and a love of farming. Mr. Wendell Whicker also served his country in the Korean War in the United States Air Force.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Maraman Billings Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
