Virgil William "Billy" Jackson

Virgil William “Billy” Jackson, 82 of Shepherdsville passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
Virgil was a Baptist by faith, he retired from Navistar after working 30 years as a machinist. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Club, an outdoorsman, he was in his element chasing coons up trees with his beloved coon dogs leading the way. Virgil had an appreciation for the classics; cars, western movies, and music, his favorites being Gunsmoke and anything by George Jones. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Kentucky Wildcats. While in school, Virgil was coached by the legendary Joe B. Hall. He was hardworking and dedicated, he made many sacrifices to support his family, he was strong and never gave up the fight, a true legend in the eyes of those that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Grace Jackson; along with several siblings.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Norma Jackson; his children, Vickie Jackson of Elizabethtown, Gail Walker (Jimmy) of Shepherdsville, Jimmy Jackson (Robert Raybin) of Seattle, Bruce Jackson (Esther) and Sandra Skaggs (Joe Ray Newton) both of Shepherdsville; his sister Shelia Cox of McDaniels; along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; additional family members and numerous friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, with Bro. Carl Thomas officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
