Shirley Colwell

Shirley Colwell, 82 of Shepherdsville, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
Shirley was a Christian by faith and a member of Shepherdsville Church of Christ. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and enjoyed all the family get-togethers. She was an exceptional cook, and she never let anyone leave her house hungry. She enjoyed raising chickens, shopping at Goodwill, and she was always ready for an ice cream cone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcom Colwell; her parents, John and Elmir Colwell; her children, Tony “Sam” Colwell, Travis Colwell, and Lori Colwell; along with her eleven brothers and sisters.
Shirley is survived by her children, Sharon Bowling (Jamie), Phillip Colwell (Jodi), and Lisa Duncil (Herbie); her grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Austin, Dustin, Amanda, Elizabeth, Casey, and Jonathan; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Lawrence, Jolene, Darius, Kylie, Alexia, Adrian, Hunter, and Lexi.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, with Bro. Gary Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley had requested that a donation be made to Kosair Charities – Children’s Hospital.
