Shelby Doyle Rountree, a retired brick layer, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at Baptist Hardin in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Born on April 15, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was known for his dedication to his craft and his unwavering spirit.
Throughout his life, Shelby made a remarkable impact in the bricklaying community, contributing his skills with precision and artistry. His work not only built structures but also lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike. His commitment to excellence and integrity was a hallmark of his career, reflecting the values he held dear.
Shelby is survived by his siblings, Arnold and his wife Helena Rountree, and Barbara Whitney and her husband Bill. They cherish fond memories of their time together, celebrating both the big milestones and the quiet, everyday moments that brought them closer as a family.
Shelby was preceded in death by his beloved wife Phyllis Rountree. He is also mourned by the memory of his parents, Joseph and Fannie Mae Rountree, and his siblings, Leon, Harold, Gerald, Dairl, and Maeola, who have all passed before him. Their legacies of love and support shaped the man he became.
Visitation will be held on February 15, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Maraman Billings Funeral Home located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165. A funeral service will follow the visitation, starting at 6:00 PM with Bro. Tom Wolford officiating.
