Dr. Samuel Jeyasingham, 66, of Louisville, KY died on October 22, 2023. Samuel passed away, surrounded by loved ones, peacefully. He is survived by a loving wife Anushka Jeyasingham, son Dr. Geoffrey Jeyasingham, and countless friends and colleagues.
Samuel was born on July 19, 1957, in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and grew up with his parents, three brothers, and a sister. He was a talented athlete who shined in several sports: field hockey, cricket, soccer, and track and field. His athletic career culminated with him winning colors in hockey and serving as Captain of Jaffna District schools. He excelled in his studies and was elected as Jaffna Students’ Counselor for multiple years. He attended University of Colombo Medical College to pursue his calling of medicine. He moved from Sri Lanka to the United States to escape the civil unrest and provide a better life for him and his family. Sam completed his residency in Internal Medicine and then went on to complete a fellowship in Nephrology at UMDNJ in Newark, NJ, Sam would go on to help numerous patients here in Crestwood, Shelbyville, and the greater Louisville area. He also served on the Board of Shelbyville (Jewish) Hospital. In his later years, he transitioned into practicing Family Medicine. In his free time, he enjoyed exploring new restaurants, watching UofL sports, and spending time with his family.
Our family is grateful to know that Sam is at peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents Professor William and Sarah Jeyasingham; along with his siter Chandra Amarasingham.
Dr. Jeyasingham is survived by his wife Anushka; his son Dr. Geoffrey Jeyasingham of Louisville; siblings Mithran Jeyasingham of Melbourne, Australia, Apostle Winthrop Jeyasingham of the United Kingdom, and Benjamin Jeyasingham of Canada; along with additional family members, colleagues, and numerous friends.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Evangel World Prayer Center with Pastor Bob Rogers officiating and Pastor Dave Keeling assisting. Burial to follow at Crosswater Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
