Peggy Rue-Jeanne Mutter, 87 of Louisville passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Green Meadows Health Care Center.
She was a Baptist by faith, a native of Elizabethton, TN and a medical assistant by trade. Peggy married Phillip Jack Mutter Sr. and together they raised 5 children as a military family, they moved across the country multiple times to Philips’s newest station. Peggy was proud of her husband’s commitment; she worked hard to flawlessly transition the children to their new homes and schools. She was caring and supportive, excited for the places, opportunities and diverse people they encountered along the way. Peggy and Phillip settled in Louisville in 1978 after Phillip’s retirement from the Air Force. Peggy enjoyed traveling and exploring the unknown, she found peace and comfort in the familiarity of her loved ones. Her happy place could be anywhere on the map as long as she was surrounded by family. Peggy was a gifted artist; she would create ceramics and was a wonderful freehand painter. She was creative and talented, supportive, kind and generous, a true joy to be around. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Jack Mutter Sr.; children Phillip “Jackie” Jack Mutter Jr., Rue-Jeanne Lynn Mutter, David Bryan Mutter and Arthur Benjamin Mutter, her parents Benjamin and Edyth Bryan; along with her brother Bobby Bryan.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Babbette Anise Higdon and her husband Greg of Mt. Washington; siblings Benjamin Bryan of TN and Judythe Boswell of FL; grandchildren Christopher (Tanya), David, Ben, Nicholas, Corey, Katie, Aly, Kaelin and Valorie; 9 great-grandchildren; additional family members and friends.
