Shepherdsville

Patrick "Pat" Bryan Cruise, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2025, at UofL South Hospital in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 19, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late John B. Cruise and Virginia Dawson Cruise. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Pat dedicated his professional life to serving as the Import/Export Traffic Manager for Jim Beam Distilling Co., a role that reflected his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was proud of his education, having obtained his bachelor's degree in 1972 from Western Kentucky University, becoming an avid supporter of Big Red and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Pat was a hard worker who also embraced moments of joy and laughter. His quick wit made others smile, and he cherished the time spent with family and friends. His playful spirit resonated through his roles as a dedicated husband to his wife of over 46 years, Theresa Pottinger Cruise, and as a supportive and loving father to his children, Bryan Cruise (Loren), and Marcy Cruise (Michael). Pat took immense pride in being a grandfather to Marissa, Natalie, Michael Jr., Xander, and Matthew. He was a loving brother to Sedonia Williams and Mary Ann Phillips, as well as to his sisters-in-law Martha Cruise and Cindy Cruise. His love and compassion extended to all his friends and family, in particular his twin brother’s daughters Katharine Cruise (Nick) and Joanna Reider (Mitch) with whom he was especially close.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents John and Virgina Cruise, infant son George Ryan Cruise, brother Boots Cruise and his “onliest” twin brother Joseph Cruise.

An avid golfer, Pat loved gathering with his buddies for rounds on the course, often with a cooler or “purse” packed full of Sterling, and sometimes a bag full of Jim Beam miniatures. He found peace and relaxation while fishing and spending time at the lake, playing cards with his “Cliquesters”, and cherished time spent at Churchill Downs. He was also known for his appreciation of fine bourbon, a connoisseur, he enjoyed a strong pour with a splash of water, accompanied by a cigar and lively conversations amongst good friends.

Visitation will take place on March 14, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a memorial service officiated by Rev. Dale Cieslik beginning at 6:30 PM, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home located at 605 South Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY.
