Patrick Walter Miller

Major Patrick W. Miller, retired-United States Army, age 72, passed away peacefully at Harden Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown, KY on May 14, 2020.
Patrick was the devoted son the late Duard P. And Edith (Dill) Miller and was born on February 23, 1948 in Highland Park, MI.
He is survived by his siblings, David Miller, John (Carla) Miller, and Suzan Miller and many extended family members. He will also be sadly missed by his close friends, John Hackett, Vickie Dye and Tony and Lisa Ashmore. He also leaves a special cousin, Nancy Ziozios.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Duard P. and Edith Miller, brother Daniel (Danny) Miller, and loving partner of more than 30 years, Tony Miller.
Patrick had served in the United States Air Force for 9 years and then in the United States Army for 13 years, retiring with the rank of Major. Patrick had a distinguished career in the Army Nurse Corps. He received numerous awards and citations during his career, but if you asked him, he would say his greatest honor was caring for and comforting HIV and AIDS service members during the early portion of the AIDS epidemic as part of the Military Preventative Medicine Team.
To his many friends, family and anyone that knew him, Patrick will be remembered for his unlimited compassion, kind heart, spirit and generosity. Patrick hung up his uniform years ago, but he continued to care for those he loved until the day he passed.
Patrick belonged to the Fraternal Order of Free Masons. He was also involved in the Doe Valley Lakeside Community, in which he resided for more than 30 years. He was known for building one of the tallest lighthouses in all of Kentucky, which was known as “Miller’s Lighthouse”.
Services will be private due to the COVID-9 pandemic.
