(Olivia) June Flowers Gabbard passed away at home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, and went to be with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Leon Flowers and Bertie May Smith Flowers and a brother Leon Flowers.
June was born on February 11, 1938. She was raised in Foley, AL. She was married on December 31, 1959 to Hugh Eugene Gabbard almost 57 years ago. Hugh and June moved to Louisville, KY in the summer of 1964 upon Hugh's acceptance of a teaching and coaching job at Fern Creek High School. June was a devoted homemaker and wife, an excellent cook, and she raised 7 children; Gene Gabbard of Louisville, Janie Gabbard Adams (Richard) of Raleigh, NC, Gary Gabbard of Louisville, Martha Gabbard Gwynn (John) of Raleigh, NC, David Gabbard of Murfreesboro, TN, Julie Gabbard Sandfort (Chris) of Louisville and Brian Gabbard (Sumie) of Destin, FL; her siblings Bessie Wallace of Foley, AL, Jane Bulick of Brentwood, TN, William Flowers of Pensacola, FL, Troy Flowers of Carriere, MS, Kyle Flowers of Alvin, TX, Gary Flowers Foley, AL, Charlie Flowers of Nashville, TN and Marti Lovelady of Snellville, GA; Hugh and June have 14 grandchildren (including 3 step grandchildren).
They were members of Evangel for nearly 3 decades and both worked on Thursdays for the Evangel Prayer Line during that time.
She will be remembered as a prayer warrior, and witness for the Lord. Her husband and family are broken hearted at her passing but comforted with the knowledge that she is at peace in the arms of the Lord.
Funeral Service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Evangel World Prayer Center 6900 Billtown Road with burial to follow at Crosswater Gardens Cemetery.
