Nancy S. Elwell DeWitt, 76, of Shepherdsville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at UofL Health Hospital.
She was a proud native of Shepherdsville; she anchored her roots and was active in the community she loved. She was a Christian by faith and a member of Southeast Christian Church. Nancy served more than 27 years as a secretary for the Bullitt Country Board of Education. She was presented with a certificate of appreciation for her dedication and was awarded for her exemplary commitment to education, her exceptional contributions to school administration, and for bringing honor to her colleagues and profession. After Nancy’s retirement from the Bullitt County Board of Education, she worked as a secretary for attorneys Jennifer Barbagallo and Eric Farris, and then for Craig Larimore & Associates until 2008. Nancy’s dedication and unprecedented work ethic were unwavering.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis DeWitt, parents Amy Shain and Joseph Pius Summers, Sr., and her siblings, Joseph Pius Summers, Jr. (Sonny), Donnie Summers, Margaret Foster, and David Summers.
Nancy is survived by her son Eric Scott Elwell and his wife Jennifer of Shepherdsville; her sister Shirley Hall and brother Larry Summers, both of Shepherdsville; along with her grandchildren Eden Wray and her husband Colin and Lane Elwell.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Orrick officiating. Burial to follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visitations will be Friday 1-8 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
