Michael Travis Ray, 79 of Shepherdsville, returned to his heavenly father on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Michael was a Baptist by faith and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shepherdsville. He was originally from Lebanon Junction, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A loving father and grandfather, he was proud of his family and their heritage; he spent countless hours and even trips down south discovering everything he could about the Ray family. A true outdoorsman at heart, he loved hunting, fishing, and exploring caves. He was also a very talented artist who mastered drawing, painting, and scrimshaw engravings.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents James Ray and Emogene Abel; his siblings Horace, Sam, Tom, Connie, Lois, and Brenda; his grandson, Michael “Brandon” Ray.
He is survived by his children Michael W. Ray (Missy), Don T. Ray (Dawn), Lonny E. Ray (Christy), Allen D. Ray (Tabitha), and Melinda K. Crabtree (Andy); his fiancé Joyce Hayes; his siblings John, Glen, Sue, and Ruth; thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Maraman Billings Funeral Home, with Bro. Carl Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington, Kentucky.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. until till the time of service.
