Mary Sue Powell

Mary Sue Baughn Powell passed away on Friday February 8, 2013 at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born in Alabama on April 11, 1932. She has been a resident of Kentucky since 1958. Sue is survived by her husband of 52 years William H. Powell, Jr., her son Henry A. "Hap" Powell and her grandson Brandon Henry Powell, a sister Sarah Allen of North Carolina and several nieces.
Sue had a Rank 1 Educational Degree and served as a biology, anatomy and P.E. teacher and as assistant principal of Mt. Washington Middle School and for the last 14 years as Hebron Middle School principal. Sue was active as a leader of Girl Scouts, Bullitt Central High Girls Track Coach, cheer leader sponsor and excellent leadership in many ways.
Sue was for many years active in her church which was First Baptist Church of Shepherdsville.
For the past three years Sue had been an invalid due to two broken hips and has been in Parkway Nursing Home since December of 2012.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2012 at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Raines officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington. Visitation will be on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
