Maria Del Carmen Melendez de Coreas, 87 of Louisville passed away at Louisville East Post Acute Care Thursday, April 18, 2019 with her family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband Miguel Angel Coreas, her parents Salvador Conde and Josefa Melendez, her sons Jose Dolores Melendez and Jorge Alberto Melendez, along with 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She was born in La Union, El Salvador and immigrated to the United States in 1999. She was a proud citizen and loved this country. Raised Catholic, she was a Christian by faith and a member of many churches. She loved cooking for her beloved family. Her time was best spent being with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
“Mama Carmen” is survived by her children Salvador Melendez (Ashlee), Miguel Melendez (Julia), Maria Melendez (Juan Carlos), Mauricio Melendez (Andrea), Zoila Zelayandia (Jose Marti) all of Louisville, and Ricardo Melendez of El Salvador, and Jose Del Carmen Melendez of Mexico; her siblings Alicia Conde of Louisville and Juan Conde of El Salvador; her grandson that she raised like a son Rene Melendez (Ana) of Louisville; along with 23 other grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Hosparus of Louisville and the staff at Louisville East Post Acute Care for their exceptional and compassionate care.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Owen Funeral Home in Jeffersontown with Pastor Edgardo Leon officiating. Burial will follow at Chenoweth Run Cemetery.
Visitations will be Monday 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

A "Mamá Carmen" le sobreviven su hermano Juan Conde de El Salvador, Alicia Conde de Louisville, sus hijos, Salvador Melendez (Ashlee), Miguel Melendez (Julia), María Melendez (Juan Carlos), Mauricio Melendez (Andrea), Zoila Zeleyandia (José Martí), todos de Louisville, Ricardo Melendez de El Salvador, José Del Carmen Melendez de México, y su nieto a quien creció como su hijo, René Melendez (Ana) de Louisville; a ellos se unen en su dolor 23 nietos, muchos bisnietos, sobrinas y sobrinos a quienes queridamente amó.
