Linnie Darleen Rakestraw

Linnie Darleen Rakestraw, affectionately known as Darleen, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional. Born on September 30, 1954, Darleen was a dedicated housewife whose life was marked by a serene devotion to her family and a profound appreciation for nature.

Darleen was a solitary soul, finding joy in watching deer and other wildlife that frequented her yard. She created a private oasis atop a hill, where beautifully designed gardens filled with rocks and boulders became her sanctuary. Many afternoons were spent floating in her pool, taking in the beauty that surrounded her. Darleen's quiet nature did not diminish her spirit; she was known to fiercely defend her beloved red heeler fur babies, Max, Sugar, and LB, with an unwavering dedication that spoke volumes of her character.

She is survived by her loving husband, James Rakestraw, who was her constant companion over the years, brother Darryl Sadler and his wife Linda, niece Tracy Denison, nephew Steven Sadler; along with extended family and friends. Darleen was preceded in death by her father, James William Sadler, and her mother, Maureen Shepherd Sadler.

Darleen's warm but reserved personality touched all who knew her, leaving behind sweet memories and a legacy rooted in love for family and nature. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of sharing in her life.
