Lillie Mae Robinson

Lillie Mae Robinson was born the 28th day of January, 1939 in Louisville Kentucky. The first two decades of her life were spent living and working on a dairy farm with her Parents George and Paralee Hilbers.
After marrying her first husband Cecil Garrett, they had two children, Alan and BIll. JIm Perkins was her second husband, and they had one son named JImmy. In the early 70's she met the man she had been searching for, Mose Robinson, and he became her third husband.
Though Mose and Lillie never had children together, she loved Mose more than Wild Turkey and mashed potatoes, and boy did she loved her some potatoes. Lillie and Mose built 3 homes with the final home being located off a dusty gravel road in Cedar Grove, where the farm was located. Lillie loved her cows, horse named Lynn, and life in the country. Lillie's professional career was spent doing what she loved doing best, talking to people. After her Tenure as the Slider Queen, she found her new job at Shell Gas Station Hwy 480, where she commuted in her Cadillac until she retired. She spoiled her Grandkids with Candy and big red when they came to visit at the store, and knew every local by name that walked through the door.
In 2010, Lillie moved to Iowa to live with her son BIll and Daughter in-law Grace Naomi. Lillie furthered her quilting hobby where she joined The "Needlers" group at the Urbandale Senior Center, where she met many new friends. Lillie would often say when she came home from knitting, "We gabbed more than we knitted". Lillie made 100's of baby blankets throughout her life-time and they are now distributed all over the United States. Her quilts and sweaters can be found on couches and in closets in more than 10 states. She loved to bake Apple Cakes, Fresh Strawberry Cakes, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, and the church folk knew her as the "Cookie Lady". Though she loved her cakes and cookies, her favorite to goodie to eat was her Granddaughter Emily's famous cinnamon rolls. She loved history, reading, and had a real hankering for good Ol Country Music .....not the "New frizzy kind" as she called it. Artists like Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ray Stevens, Vern Gosdin, and Keith Whitley, among many other legends filled her music collection. Lille loved to laugh, tell stories to her children and Grandchildren, absolutely loved...LOVED....the color Red, and had a very green thumb. Lillie was a lady who loved her Lord, birds, her country roots, and her family.
Lillie is survived by her 3 sons, Alan (Marsha), BIll (Grace Naomi) and Jimmy (Pat). She has 5 grandchildren; Ricky, Becky, Brandon, Emily, and Blaine, 7 great grandchildren that she loved to pieces, and many extended family.
Lillie Mae left a mark on this earth as the woman she chose to be. She marched to the beat of her own drum, never backed down if she knew she was right, and never failed to say how much she was proud of you and loved you. Lillie loved Gospel Music, and one of her Favorite songs was "Highway to Heaven"or as she called it, "Kings Highway" where undoubtedly she is now.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 5:00-7:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Her Celebration Service will be Friday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Maraman Billings Funeral Home 605 Preston Hwy. Shepherdsville, Ky.
