Leonard Paul Whitener

Leonard Paul Whitener, 89 of Shepherdsville passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
He was a Baptist by faith. He was a retired sheet-metal worker (Local 110) at Phillip Morris. Leonard was a proud member of the Masons. He enjoyed laid back days of fishing and time spent on the lake. He prized the excitement of a good card game, his favorites being pinochle and poker. Leonard had an appreciation for the strings and sounds of bluegrass music. Above all, Leonard cherished time spent with his family, the love he had for his grandchildren & great-grandchildren was unmatched, his love and support will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Molly Whitener, along with several of his siblings.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Whitener; his children Sandy Oerther (David) and Tony Whitener (Laurie) both of Shepherdsville; sisters Thelma Cundiff of Louisville and Emma Younce of Tennessee; grandchildren Joshua Oerther (Brittany), Jacob Whitener (Amanda), and Joanna Whitener; great-grandchildren Alex Oerther, Makayla Oerther and Jaxson Whitener; additional family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitations will be Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service.
