Lee Owen Mills

Lee Owen Mills 79, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Norton Audubon Hospital with his family by his side.
Lee was a native of Barbourville, he was a Baptist by faith and attended Shepherdsville Baptist Church. He earned a Master of Education and completed certification to earn Rank 1 from Cumberland College and Eastern Kentucky University. Lee served 28 years as a teacher for the Bullitt County School System and retired from Bullitt Central High School in 1995. Lee had a distinguished career, he served as President of the Bullitt County Education Association, President of the KEA Retired Teachers Association, and President of the University of Kentucky 101 Club. Lee’s grandest accomplishment was his family, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time and playing with his grandson Logan.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents Fount and Grace Burton Mills; along with his sister Lois Penn.
Lee is survived by his wife of 53 years Deborah Warren Mills; son Steve Mills and his wife Lauren of Louisville; grandson Logan Mills; sisters Loretta Rogers, Lorrine Townsley and her husband Frank, and Linda Elam, his brother Lawrence Mills and his wife Tracy; his sisters-in-law Helen Warren and Jinx Messick; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Higginbotham officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. till time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made in Lee’s name to the UK Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, KY 40536
