John Edward Meckisis III, 74 of Shepherdsville, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side.
John was a proud Army veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and his love for his Harley was second only to his love for his family. He was a “great dad,” and his devotion will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents John Edward Meckisis II and Irene Turner Meckisis, and his brother Mickey Meckisis.
John is survived by his loving companion of over 12 years, Tammy Johnston; his daughters Carrie Woods (Cody) of Shelbyville, Rebecca Yates (Jeffery) of Springfield, Heather Meckisis and Jennifer Lundy, both of Louisville; his step-son Kyle Williams (Christine) of Louisville; his brother Kevin Meckisis; his sister Debbie Hurst (Glen) of Brooks; along with 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family has chosen cremation at this time, with a memorial gathering to be held at a later date.
