Jerelene Simpson

SIMPSON, JERELENE ,
Eldest daughter of Ernest and Pauline Maddox Simpson, died Sunday, August 21, 2016. She was 77, born May 23, 1939 in Bullitt County on the Simpson Family Farm.
She graduated from Southern High School in 1957 and Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing in 1960. She was a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1967 - 1969 in the Medical Corp and retired from Methodist - Evangelical Hospital. Jeri loved being a nurse.
She grew up attending Okolona Baptist Church and later attended Southeast Christian Church. Jeri loved playing cards and traveling. She visited friends scattered across the states and traveled with family and friends on many fun filled vacations especially to Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her sisters; Cleo Turner and her husband Gregg and Doris Bader (Jim, Deceased); niece Amanda Turner Strain and her husband Mark; her nephew Scott Turner and his wife Jennifer and their children, Colt, Caroline and Caleb; her devoted caregivers, Angela Layer, Christine Embry and Elisha Grimes, along with many cousins and very good friends.
Jeri was an inspiration to her family and friends. She is now at peace seeing the face of Christ.
Her Going Home Celebration will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitations will be Wednesday 2-8 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. until the time of service.
We are grateful for her care thru Veteran’s and Baptist East Hospital Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baptist East Hospital Palliative Care or Hosparus Care of Louisville.
