Hardin “Hardy” L. Parker 67, of Louisville passed away at his home Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
He served in the US Army Reserves as a tanker at Fort Knox, KY. He worked as an in-store stocker for Malone & Hyde and Purnell’s Sausage, later becoming a Grocery Manager for Meijer and Wal-Mart. Hardy’s passion in life was year-round gun and bow hunting, fishing and just communing with nature. He was UK’s #1 Fan and also a devout Oakland Raiders, and LA Lakers fan. He enjoyed watching football and basketball games on TV and cheered on his private sideline along with his son Thomas. He thoroughly enjoyed watching True Crime documentaries and multiple movies with his daughter Megan. He loved Rock-n-Roll music, and was the family’s personal News and Weather reporter, and the occasional goofball.
Hardy was preceded in death by his parents Bessie Burke Mohr and Lewis Parker, as well as his brothers Gordon, Michael, James, and his sister Shelia Horton.
Hardy is survived by Catherine McGaha Parker who has been by his side 47 years, his son Thomas Hardin Parker (Nicole), daughter Megan Marie Parker; his grandchildren Brandon Thomas Dishon, Seth Anthony Vaughan, Sydney Taylor Parker and Lydia Aislin Bailey all of Louisville, his brother Arthur Lee Parker of Bardstown, KY and sister Carrie Hutchinson of Sylvester, GA as well as his dear friend and fishing buddy Jim Wise of Louisville. Along with his faithful dog Pumpkin, Hardy leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Hardy’s life will take place at Maraman Billings Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Beeler and Sue Beeler officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until time of service.
