Douglas Ray Cooney

Douglas Ray Cooney, 70 of Shepherdsville passed away suddenly on Friday, November 25, 2022, at UofL Health.
He was devoted in his faith, attending services at Evangel World Prayer Center. Doug was retired but continued working security for large events. He really enjoyed being a part of the various events, which allotted him the experiences of derby, concerts, ballgames, and various other venues. Doug was a loving and supportive father and grandfather, he and his wife LaDonne fostered numerous children over the years and adopted 3 young children to raise alongside their children. Doug was an avid University of Kentucky fan; he never missed a game.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marion D. & Ann Milburn Cooney.
Doug is survived by his loving wife LaDonne Arnold Cooney; his children Nathan Cooney (Rebecca), Eric Cooney, Ashley Cooney, Malakai Cooney, Ariel Cooney, and Mariah Cooney all of Shepherdsville; siblings Sue Black (Dwight) of Ohio, Lisa Beard (Mike), and John Cooney (Melinda) both of Louisville; grandchildren Lilly, Elizabeth, and Emma; his father-in-law Carroll Arnold; along with numerous nieces & nephews, additional family members and friends.
Funeral service will be at Noon on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin McKnight officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:30-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family request guest show their support by wearing UofK gear or something blue in honor of Doug.
