Christina Irene Young Maybray, 74 of Louisville passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Norton Audubon Hospital with her family by her side.
She was a member of Evangel World Prayer Center, a true evangelist, Christina loved to worship and spread the gospel of Jesus. She was a graduate of Spencerian College and served as the Administrative Assistant to the CFO of Audubon Hospital until she was forced to retire due to health challenges. Christina had a zest for life, she was a fighter and a survivor; she overcame cancer in 2019 and managed Type 1 diabetes for 58 years. Christina was night owl, those that knew her well, knew better than to call before 2 p.m.; she enjoyed binging on Netflix shows, loved her coffee, and never left the house without her signature lipstick and beautiful smile. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious; she enjoyed working with the “Young Ones” at Walmart and Kroger. Christina loved animals, especially her granddogs Charlie and Aspen. She was an awesome Nanny that simply adored her grandson Samuel Kays. Christina was an amazing soul; she touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents John C. Young and Irene Hartman Young; husband Robert “Bob” Maybray; and infant children Bella Rose Barnes, Stacy Lynn Barnes, Irene Nicole Barnes and Charles “Chuckie” John Maybray.
Christina is survived by her loving daughter Gina Marie Kays; stepson Christopher Maybray; adoring grandson Samuel Gordon Kays (Brianna); siblings Phyllis King (Morris), Jack Young (Margo), Jerry M. Young, and Dan Young (Margie); nieces and nephews Rita Bernard (Ray), Brent King (Lisa) Calvin King (Robin), and Sarah Young (Andrew Fern); along with her dear friends Steve South, Lisa Morgan, and Sahandra Starnes.
The family of Mrs. Maybray has entrusted Maraman Billings Funeral Home with cremation services. The family is hosting a celebration of life to take place Friday, October 1, 2021 at Evangel World Prayer Center located at 6900 Billtown Road in Louisville. Friends and family may gather at 5:00 p.m. to share memories and stories of Christina, a celebration of life ceremony is to take place at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Christina’s honor to benefit her grandson Samuel Kays as he progresses through his education at Boyce College and into the next chapter of his life.
