Charles Joseph DeGrella, Jr., age 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 3, 2025, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Born on July 14, 1940, Charles was a proud graduate of Trinity High School and made a lasting impact in the produce industry as a broker and co-owner of the family-owned DeGrella Packing Company. His dedication to the business reflected his work ethic and commitment to quality.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Charles had a deep passion for thoroughbred horses, spending many cherished years at Churchill Downs. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly the time he spent with family and friends, which brought him immense joy.

Charles is survived by his beloved sister Sharon Dewitt and her husband Mickey, his sister-in-laws Margie Chapleau and her husband Walt and Sharon DeGrella. He leaves behind his cherished granddaughter Whitney Glass and her husband Roger, along with his great-grandchildren Alenna, Peyton, Kaysen, and Karsen. He also shared a special bond with his long-time friend Jackbarry Beasley and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Kate Combs DeGrella, and by his loving parents, Etta and Charles DeGrella, Sr. Charles was also mourned the loss of his son, Charles Combs DeGrella, along his siblings: Andrew DeGrella, Steven DeGrella, Marietta Bowman, Debbie Bischoff, and Michael DeGrella.

A man of faith, Charles was devoted to his Catholic beliefs, which guided him throughout his life. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
