Carroll Arnold

April 26, 1935 — October 18, 2024

Shepherdsville

Carroll Arnold, age 89, fell asleep at his earthly home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on October 17th, 2024, and awoke on Oct 18th at his eternal home in heaven.

Born and raised on Cedar Grove Road, he and his identical twin brother, Calvin, went on to build many custom homes along the road he knew and loved. Carroll and Calvin shared a love for flea markets and creating beautiful things. The Pioneer News once featured an article about the brothers and their lives. Carroll has always loved sitting on his front porch, visiting with friends and family, watching cars go by. Carroll spent his life enamored by dirt bikes, motorcycles, and classic cars, and could create beautiful works of art from random pieces of scrap metal. As a young man, he enjoyed competing in dirt bike hill climbs, which he often won. Later in life, Carroll enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles, which brought him to many car shows and Bike Weeks with his loved ones and dearest friends. He enjoyed riding unicycles and taught many of the neighborhood kids, as well as his son, Jon. Years later, he built replica antique high wheel bicycles and unicycles and rode them in parades with his family for many years. He was fascinated by the moon and stars and had a brilliant mind and fantastic imagination, often seeing things that interested him in magazines then creating his own version of them in his workshop. He loved having company and celebrated every holiday with the world’s best chili, fabulous sweet tea, and if he could talk you into it, a serving of salsa.

Gone before him are his wife, Gloria “Faye” Arnold; his parents, Raymond and Marie Arnold, his former wife, Annette Arnold, his siblings, Evelyn Kuykendall (Kirk), Raymond Arnold Jr, his son in law Doug Cooney, and his stepdaughter Connie Lawson.

He was an incredibly kind and loving father, grandfather, and friend. Numerous friends and family will cherish his memory, including his children, LaDonne Cooney, Cammie Brown, Stacy Ogle, and Jonathon Arnold (Bryonna), his former son in law, Danny Brown, stepchildren Karyla Parsons, Amy Yocum, his brother, Calvin Arnold (Betty Lee), his sister-in-law Patsy Arnold, 14 Grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-granddaughter.

Carroll was extremely proud to be an American and was proud of his son, grandson, grandson-in-law, and great-granddaughter, who chose to serve their country.
