Boice F. “Smitty” Smithers, 83 of Lake Wales, FL passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport.
He was born July 27, 1936 in Robbins, TN to the late George Robert and Cora Smithers; he came to Lake Wales from Tennessee in 1984. He was a retired security guard, of Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army. He was a history enthusiast and enjoyed reading, watching old movies on tv and going on vacation.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Myrtle “Mickey” Smithers; daughters, Barbara Guinn (Wesley), Vickie Sewell of Lake Wales and Nancy Whaley (Rick) of Lake Wales; sons, Boice F. Smithers, Jr. of New York and Darrell Smithers (Sherrie) of Haines City; brother, Vel Keith Smithers of New York; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitations will be 10:00 a.m. until Noon Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Maraman Billings Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
