Bobby Gene Oakley, Sr., 85 of Mt. Washington passed away at Baptist Health on Thursday, May 6, 2021 with his family by his side.
He proudly served in the United States Army as well as the National Guard. He was a retiree of Wheeling Corrugating Company, where he worked as a tin man for more than 30 years. Bobby enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and throwing horseshoes. Bobby and his wife Alma also fancied square dancing. He was an all-around great man, who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Mary Whiteside Oakley; his son Barry Dean Oakley and siblings Glenda Willis and Billy Oakley.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Alma Oakley; his children Bobby Gene Oakley, Jr. of Louisville, and Benita Gay Oakley of Shepherdsville; grandchildren Austin Crowley and Amber Oakley; along with a great-grandchild Ryla Oakley.
The family of Mr. Oakley has entrusted Maraman Billings with cremation services.
