Betty Carol Egnew, 62, of Colonial Heights, Virginia passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at her home.
She was raised Catholic and maintained her relationship with God. She was a native of Louisville, she put down roots in Concord, N.C. as well as Colonial Heights but her heart stayed true to her old Kentucky home. Betty worked as the co-manager of Simpson Racing. She enjoyed watching and attending Nascar races, cheering on her favorite driver Jeff Gordon. She was dedicated to her Kentucky Wildcats, never missing a game. She traveled often, taking her family on trips and creating lasting memories. Betty was actively involved with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports teams, and schools in support of her children. She was strong-willed and independent, wild and fun loving, yet responsible, she was generous to a fault. Betty was a doting wife, mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother; a true matriarch, the glue that held everyone together. She created lifelong bonds and loyal friendships. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Ruby Flood; along with her lifelong friend Malynda Mello.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of more than 30 years Donald Egnew; her children Jeanette Cox (Brent Pridgen), and D.J. Egnew (Megan Lawson); siblings Rose Brohm (Donnie), Tony Flood, Don Flood, Sharon Hottinger (Ronald), and Gordon Flood; grandchildren Ethan White (Baleigh Chism), Lynnsey White, and Nate Pridgen; her great-grandchild Ryker White; aunt and uncle Marilyn & Johnny Vessels; her brother & sister-in-law Mike and Cindy Egnew, her childhood friend Debbie Kountz, and dear friend Lori Smith; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, additional family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2023, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Veatch officiating.
Visitations will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
